Refreshing Blog Use By Church
Pathways Church, a new church plant in Mill Creek, Washington is using their blog in quite a refreshing manner.
Once a week, they post the next week’s theme and/or Scripture reference for their folks to contemplate and grapple with during the upcoming week — both individually and in their weekly home gatherings.
Then, after everyone has considered the meaning and implications of the theme and/or passage throughout the week, both individually and in small groups, they take a final look at the subject of their contemplation in their large weekly gathering.
Read more about their strategy in The Rhythm of Pathways, an article that also has something to say to us about the nature of the church and its gatherings (but that’s another blog!).
Frank,
I’m one of the pastors of Pathways. Thanks for giving us some love here. Hopefully this will work so that we’re not reporting back what a failure it was in a few months!
Hey John - thanks for commenting! Even if it comes to an end for some reason, I can’t imagine it would have been a failure in God’s eyes. I think you’ve caught a bit of God’s heart when you say that the church is not just events and programs, and the thought you’ve put into how to make the church a way of life throughout the week will have profound effects in people’s lives whether or not it continues.

I believe that the internet provides today's church with a historic opportunity .... to tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love in ways which could only have been imagined in times past. The objective of this website is to explore the various ways in which today's technology can be used to spread the gospel around the world.
