Interactive Forums On Church Websites

Here’s an example of someone who was helped on their journey to Christ by an interactive forum on a church’s website:

The Internet and the Church: Today’s Technology Connects People to Church.

Obviously, there were other influences on Kelly’s life in addition to her visit to the church website (the postcard her family received, her friend Kristi, etc.), but the church’s website (and the forums which provide an authentic voice) played a part in convincing her and her family to risk meeting new people and new experiences by visiting a church service.

Wow! Thanks Mike! What an encouraging read.

I liked a lot of different things while I was reading the exchange, but one thing which stood out to me was how the online and offline worlds “worked together” in helping Chris.

I think that’s natural…given a local base to the online forums.

The question that kept haunting me was “what would he have done if the forums weren’t there”....it felt like he needed the safety and anonymity that the forums provided.

Without the forums, I could easily see him just disappearing or worse. I agree - the initial safety and anonymity were fundamental to his being able to open up.

I loved one person’s response to him early on - though he called himself “Invisible,” she made it a point to say “we ‘see’ you.”
