A Question From One Of Our Readers

One of our readers, Graeme, recently wrote me with this question:

Have you come across anything new in the technology field that allows the deaf and hearing impaired to be included in contemporary church worship services? I personally consider there is something “out there” that (for instance) converts voice to text to include the deaf and hearing impaired and also two other groups : English as a second language and visual learners. Through an employee I have become privy to the isolated world of the deaf and want to see our church provide a way to include these members of our society. Signing is not an entirely practical solution in the postmodern church because of the variety of speakers and hosts who do not entirely work from a prepared script.

Does anyone have any ideas for Graeme? Please use comments to contribute your ideas so we can all benefit.  Thanks!

My husband pointed me to your website and I am so happy with what I see.  You do incredible work for the Kingdom.

At times I struggle with my own blog and whether or not I am making a difference for Christ.  Several months back, I put together a brochure showing my church leadership the opportunities available through internet evangelism.  I approached them about participating in the church’s missions conference.  I wanted to show people how to use the internet to share their faith.  Needless to say, I wasn’t invited to participate.  It could’ve been an oversight, but I felt discouraged.  I’ve been blogging for almost a year, and have had over 20,000 hits to my site.  Someone is reading what this Christian blogger has to say about faith.

I want to encourage you to continue doing what you’re doing.

Blessings,

Paula:

Thanks so much for your kind comments. I’ve taken a quick look at your blog and you also are doing great work for God. Don’t give up!

It is slow-going sometimes to convince church leaders of the importance of using the web to reach out to unbelievers, but I’m finding that the tide is changing, if even so slightly. I think the key, for me at least, is building relationships with church leaders. In our county, I’ve been building relationships slowly for 3-4 years. As each year passes, I believe that I am trusted more and more and church leaders in our county are now beginning to look to me for advice on their internet efforts, which is gratifying.

Again, don’t give up!

Frank,

Thank you for the words of encouragement.  I know the enemy would love nothing more than to destroy the work I began.  He uses all kinds of lies to try to make me quit.  Although I’ve been tempted many times, I plan to stay the course.

I’m keepin’ on keepin’ on.

By the way, God has used you and your site to point me in the direction of my latest endeavor and the topic for my post today.

Blessings,
